Steam Tip

Ten Facts on Steam

1) Steam is the “invisible” gaseous state of water
2) Sensible heat is the heat in liquid, the energy that remains in
the condensate, when the steam condenses
3) Latent heat is the transferable heat in steam, the energy that is
released at change of state, when steam condenses
4) Saturated temperature is the temperature at which the change in
state takes place at a given pressure
5) Saturated Steam is dry steam at saturated temperature
6) Superheat is the number of degrees above the saturated
temperature of a given pressure
7) Steam releases heat energy at a constant temperature
8) Clean – odorless – tasteless
9) Easily distributed and controlled
10) Steam is perfect; there are no problems with a steam system.
Problems only occur when applications, operations or installations
are done not to Steam System Best Practices.
