Change Management for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals on CD ROM

This Self Study CD ROM Course is based on the Instructor Led Distance Learning Course from Masteringmaintenance.com. The CD Includes narrated lessons reinforced with graphics and slides, a detailed exercise workbook and comprehensive hard cover text book (Published by Industrial Press) to support learning at your own pace. Self Study CD Course students can also take advantage of instructor interaction in the online Student Resources discussion area.

Course Overview:
Companies initiate change programs all of the time. Some succeed but many more fail to accomplish their stated goals. Previous failure can make future efforts even more difficult due the audience becoming skeptical.
Of all types of change, reliability focused efforts are perhaps the most difficult to initiate and conduct. These initiatives often meet significant resistance because there are always those who did well working in a reactive maintenance environment. Lukewarm support is often the most that can be expected from those changing to the new reliability based approach. How a manager manages the change will be the difference between success and failure.
This course teaches the basic skills required to break down the barriers encountered by reliability focused change efforts.

The course includes:
• Making your vision of a reliability focused future understandable and accepted
• Achieving the vision by use of the Goal Achievement Model
• Building your Roadmap of Change
• Becoming a non-linear thinker using spiral learning
• Understanding the role of teams
• Overcoming resistance
• Measuring your opportunities for improvement with the Web of Change

In addition you will learn about the Eight Elements of Change – leadership, work process, structure, group learning, technology, communication, interrelationships and rewards. You may have worked with one or more of these in the past, but this course shows you how to view and work with them as a global set of critical change elements.

Order the Self Study CD, Work Book and Text Book with access to the Online Student Resource Area for just $499 plus shipping.

Des-Case® VentGuard™ breather for the pump market

The new VentGuard™ breathers offer pump users' greater reliability over traditional breather vents, which provide very little to no protection against moisture and dirt.

Ideal for small to mid-size ANSI and API pumps, VentGuard breathers offer superior protection, helping to maximize the mean time between failures and optimize production output. Two products are included in this initial rollout, the VentGuard VG-1 and the VentGuard VG-4.

The VG-1 is a simple, yet effective miniature breather model that incorporates desiccant, filtration media, and check valves. The VG-4 is a hybrid technology breather that provides the ideal solution for the management of lubricant condition where there is an increased incidence of bearing and seal failures due to moisture ingress.

The design of the VG-4 incorporates the drying capability of desiccant, the cleaning capability of a 3µ filter media, the sealing capability of an expansion chamber, and check valves to ensure no excess pressure builds. By combining these proven technologies into one cost-effective package, VentGuard effectively eliminates ingression of dirt and water through vent ports.

What is Reliability Centered Maintenance?

Reliability centered maintenance (RCM) is the maintenance approach used when following a process that assesses equipment condition and determines the maintenance requirements of any physical asset in its operating context.

Basically, the RCM methodology addresses key issues not dealt with by other maintenance programs. This approach recognizes that all equipment in a facility is not of equal importance – to either the process or to facility needs and safety. Focusing on reliability of equipment means recognizing that equipment design and operations differ, and that each piece of equipment will have a different probability of undergoing failure from degradation than will another. A reliability-focused approach will mean structuring a maintenance program based upon the understanding of equipment needs and priorities, as well as limited financial and personnel resources, to plan activities such that equipment maintenance is prioritized while operations are optimized.

Simply put, RCM is a systematic approach of evaluating a facility’s equipment and resources to best match the two needs. This results in a high degree of facility reliability and cost-effectiveness, and is highly reliant on predictive maintenance.

Take three days to immerse yourself and your team in the world of Reliability Centered Maintenance with 12 Real World RCM Case Studies, a Reliability Incident Management Short Course and the new RCM Scorecard Workshop. The Reliability Centered Maintenance Managers' Forum will jumpstart your journey to an improved maintenance program.

Fast & Effective Ultrasonic Tank Leak Test

The SDT Ultrasonic tank test system, is the most efficient, fastest, economical and most reliable method to control the tightness of underground fuel tanks.

A pump creates a gradual vacuum in the tank. As soon as the vacuum created becomes higher than the hydrostatic pressure due to the height of liquid, leaks start to generate ultrasonic sounds or signals. Two ultrasonic sensors placed inside the tank, one above and the other in the liquid, reveal even the smallest leaks and therefore control the tightness of fuel tanks of P1, P2, P3, P4 as prescribed by the environmental regulations.

Substantially Increase Safety and Reduce Downtime

Hotspots in electrical cabinets can be quickly pinpointed while circuits are energized and under load, using Mikron’s SpyGlass™ Lens and economical ViewPorts.

The unique design of the Viewport uses only a 0.62˝ aperture, maintaining the integrity and safety rating of the cabinet, without the need for a metal screen barrier which can skew thermal readings, or break and compromise safety. The Viewport is unaffected by moisture, dirt, UV and corrosive environments – it never needs cleaning or replacement glass. When used with the plastic-tipped SpyGlass™ lens, there is no “path to ground” through the camera, enhancing operator safety.

These patented viewports have received a UL approval number of NITW2.E228318 for use in the United States and a UL approval number of NITW8.E228318 for use in Canada. These UL approved viewports are designed for use with NEMA Type 1, 2, 3, 3R, 4, 5, 12, 12K, and 13 enclosures. They are available in three styles, with a list price starting under $50.

When used in conjunction with Mikron’s SpyGlass Lens this patented and UL approved method raises the safety and convenience standard for thermal inspections by encouraging frequent examinations of electrical switchgear without having to open cabinet doors or de-energize circuits.

Wilcoxon 786 IS and 787 IS Series Accelerometers Intrinsically Safe

Wilcoxon Research has received Intrinsic Safety certification for two of its most popular low cost accelerometer series: the 786 and 787. These accelerometers are now rated to operate in hazardous areas in accordance with U.S. and Canadian standards.

Obtaining the Intrinsic Safety (IS) certification means that Wilcoxon’s 786 IS Series and 787 IS Series units can be used where flammable or explosive materials are present without causing electrical sparks or “hot spots” strong enough to cause ignition of gases or dusts in the air.

The 786 and 787 series are among Wilcoxon’s best selling low-cost accelerometers, and have actually met the standards of Intrinsic Safety for several years, but only recently were submitted for testing and received certification.

The 786 IS Series of top exit accelerometers includes an integral cable model (the 786F) and the first dual output accelerometer with temperature sensor to receive IS certification (the 786T). The 787 IS Series are side exit units, and include an optional modified mounting stud.

Wilcoxon 786 IS series and 787 IS series are certified as Intrinsically Safe for Class I, Division 1 rated for Groups A, B, C, D; Class II, Division 1 rated for Groups E, F, G; Class III, Division 1; Class I, Zone 0, Ex ia IIC T4 (zone approval for Canada); and Class I, Zone 0, Aex ia IIC T4 (zone approval for US). European approval is pending and expected by March 1, 2005.

The Rolling Bearings Troubleshooter’s Guide

The Ultimate Technical Resource on Bearings - The Convenience of CD-ROM

Do you find yourself replacing the same bearing again and again? It seems like you just got that machine back on-line and now you’re tearing it down again to replace that same bearing for the umpteenth time. What aggravation!

It’s not only aggravating - it’s expensive. Not to mention the boss is standing over you, chewing you out, and wanting to know when “his” line will be back up again.

Bearing failures occur regularly in every plant; and thousands of dollars in lost production time and unnecessary bearing purchases can occur as a result. That’s why it’s critical - no imperative - to identify the root cause of a premature bearing failure and implement a solution to prevent a reoccurrence.

Sound familiar? Well fortunately, there’s a better way. TWI Press is pleased to announce the availability of a new resource tool to help you avoid some of the aggravation described above.

Vibration Analysis Distance Learning

Introduction to Vibration Analysis Course Number VS101

Next Course begins February 1, 2005!

The Introduction To Vibration Analysis (IVA) class introduces students to the basic theory subjects of amplitude, frequency, trends, spectrums and more. The subjects are made more understandable through the use of dozens of animations to illustrate the subjects. Additionally, the focus is kept on how the theory is applied in a practical sense. The distance learning format is designed to not overwhelm the student at the beginner level. Later in the course, the theory is applied as the class is stepped through an actual case study complete with machine and field test data. The case study is a critical step in teaching the students how to connect the theory they are learning with the application side of the technology.

Total course time to complete: 8 weeks - 12 weeks

Estimated Student Study time per week: 3 hours

Space is limited so please call 239-985-0317 ext 112 to register or...
