Oil Purification – K.I.S.S. Principle

Oil purification does not have to be complicated or difficult. In fact, it can be very simple! There is an oil purifier on the market today that offers simple on/off operation and only requires one utility…power. This purifier can remove water, gases/hydrocarbons, and particulate, bringing your oil back to “like” new condition without impacting the oils properties or additives and significantly improving machinery reliability and MTBF.

Water Removal
Water is reported by many industries as the #1 contaminate found in oil systems…and it can be the most difficult to remove. Free water can be removed by most of the older technologies such as centrifuges and coalescers; however, to get the dissolved water out and stop the rust, corrosion and additive depletion you must use a technology that can remove all forms of water to very dry levels. Zero water = Maintenance Savings!!

Degasification
Seal oil leakage and the continuing problem of sour oil disposal can be a maintenance nightmare. Improved seal designs are the solution to this challenge however, until that machine comes down at turnaround…an oil purifier that can degas can save you major dollars by eliminating new oil purchases, sour oil disposal, and your employee’s handling this hazardous gas ladened oil. Keep the oil in the tank and send the gases to the flare…it’s that simple!

Bearing Lubrication using the "Acoustic Lubrication Method™"

Are you tired of asking, "How Much and How Often"?

Proactive lubrication methods don't have to be that complicated to effective and precise. This gentleman knows exactly when to stop and whether or not the bearing even gets lubricant to it...he uses the ORIGINAL "Acoustic Lubrication Method™"

"Bearing lubrication" has never been easier or more reliable, because the Ultra-Lube provides the user with feedback about the current lubrication status of components about to be lubricated. Simply connect the gun to the grease zerk nipple. The operator is now able to listen to the amplified "acoustic" bearing noise through the headset, discerning problems associated with lack of lubricant or too much lubricant. Both cases greatly shorten the design life of a bearing. No additional procedure is necessary other than to continue to grease components in the normal manner. It doesn't need to be more complicated!

NEW Portable Power Cell for Machine & Process Analysis

Vydas International Marketing has announced the release of a new unique portable power monitor manufactured by Load Controls Inc USA.

The NEW PPC-3 portable power cell, offers accurate and extremely fast (15mS) true power measurement which is ideal for machine analysis or process development, allowing process engineers the flexibility to assess the performance of individual machines and product processes.

The instrument has been designed to complement the innovative range of Power Cell transducers, which are now firmly established with process control customers who require the very best possible motor load "process end point" monitoring signal under the most difficult industrial conditions.

Using three clip on "Hall Effect" current sensors, the instrument has a wide frequency response, is not affected by poor wave shape or frequency and is suitable for use on the OUTPUT of variable frequency or inverter drives. Many other power monitors use current transformers (CT’s) and can not provide accurate measurements under such conditions.

The power monitor is mounted in a rugged easy to carry waterproof case. A bright digital true power display calibrated in Horsepower or Kilowatts is included, with peak emphasis allowing fast moving events to be monitored. Selection switches provide flexible ranges and both 0-10V and 4-20mA isolated analogue outputs allow measurements to be transferred to remote instrumentation, chart recorders, data loggers and computers.

Many industrial process machines such as grinders, mills, mixers, rollers, pumps, compressors, extruders etc may be improved by sensing power instead of just current. Applications include monitoring optimum feed rates, tool condition, mixture viscosity, pump or fan flow, obstructions or overloads.

The Portable Power Monitor and Power Cell transducers are particularly suited to mixer "process end point detection" where by measuring the true power drawn by stirrer or paddle drives, it is sensitive enough to detect minute viscosity changes.

Bearing / Balancing Fault Simulator

A Great Machine for Teaching Bearing Faults & Balancing

Features
• Portable, robust, cost-effective balance and bearing vibration trainer.
• Ideal for teaching multi-plane balancing with centerhung / overhung rotors
• Can be setup to exhibit bearing fault frequencies both further away from, and closer to multiples of the shaft rotational speed (RPM)
• Develop signal processing techniques to identify bearing fault frequencies in the presence of defects, at multiples of shaft RPM, without using high-resolution spectra
• Use the BBS to recognize the vibration spectra of different bearing faults
• 10 different application specific study kits available

The Bearing/Balancing Simulator (BBS) is specifically designed to demonstrate and support the study of bearing faults and unbalance under controlled conditions. The BBS is a variable speed machine (available in either AC or DC) that can be used to generate each type of fault individually or in combinations, providing a stable platform for study. Since bearing related problems are very common, it is essential to have a thorough understanding of the associated fault signatures that occur under a variety of operating conditions. The same can be said for unbalance, where a properly balanced machine will save a factory on machine down time, replacement parts, inventory, and energy consumption. The BBS is available with either an AC drive or DC drive. The ten option kits include: eccentric rotor, cocked rotor, bent shaft, 5/8” and 1” diameter bearing fault kits, 5/8” and 1” diameter bearing loaders, 5/8” diameter sleeve bearings, and tachometer with analog output.

Got Sour Oil?

Seal oil leakage and the continuing problem of sour oil disposal can be a maintenance nightmare. Improved seal designs are the solution to this challenge. However, until that machine comes down at turnaround, an oil purifier that can degas will save you major dollars by eliminating new oil purchases, sour oil disposal, and handling hazardous gas ladened oil.

Keep the oil in the tank and send the gases to the flare…it’s that simple!

The high performance of the ThermoJet Oil Purifier with compressor seal oil systems has been proven in numerous applications. A large gulf coast refinery experienced hydrogen contaminated seal oil leakage at 300 gallons per day. Prior to the installation of the ThermoJet, this reservoir was continually having fresh oil added and contaminated oil drained, so as to maintain a safe flash point. Cost for this operation was over $1500 per day and that did not include the disposal cost of the contaminated seal oil

With the installation of the ThermoJet, oil usage has plummeted, the flash point has stabilized and the hydrogen gas is being safely disposed into the flare system.

Automatically export machine cycle count and run time to EAM/CMMS

• Improve on calendar scheduled Preventive Maintenance.

You need actual run time and number of cycles on machines and tooling for effective maintenance scheduling. Instead of manually reading meters and counters, use MDT-02 Machine Data Transducers to electronically link all types of production machines to EAM/CMMS.

• Export data to EAM/CMMS and analyze equipment performance.

MDT-02 is a $295 networked "black box" that connects directly to all types of production machines. It communicates with Windows ProductionACE software that automatically exports machine cycle count and total run time to your EAM/CMMS. Software also provides a real-time dashboard of machine utilization, productivity and OEE calculations: percent of capacity, yield, uptime, standard rate.

• Beyond PM: Improve your manufacturing productivity.

ProductionACE can be economically upgraded to a complete machine monitoring, data collection, production scheduling and Preventive Maintenance application including a bi-directional link from the production floor to your ERP system.

• Economical to install.

MDT-02 doesn't need 120VAC power to run--it gets power from a Communications Interface at PC. Your plant electrician can install MDT-02 because it accepts switch, open collector and 24 to 120V AC/ DC machine cycling signals that already exist in the machine. Its housed in the familiar "single gang" metal electrical junction box so it can easily be mounted anywhere.

• Economical to purchase.

A complete system costs under $500 per machine (a 15 machine system), including on-machine MDT-02 Machine Data Transducers, multi-user ProductionACE software and 1000' of communications cable.

We have had one of the MAARS 5000 units for at least 3 years now and love it. We initially had some issues with a bad processor but the guys out of Knoxville bent over backwards to get things fixed. We have 16 simultaneous channels of which I have 12 set-up for vibration and 4 for temperature. The variety of channel configurations is pretty extensive and if a set-up requires a different module for the channel, they are very reasonably priced. Update and support is less than 10% of what I pay for all of my XXXXX stuff and they make some good updates, listening to what their customers tell them. I don't work for these guys in any way but really like their product. It does what we need. - A Happy Steel Plant User
