U.K. based Fluid Conditioning Systems Ltd has designed a magnetic filter that is capable of removing ferrous contaminants in fluids down to 1-micron without reducing flow. The filter forces the fluid through designated flow channels. On either side of the flow channels is a magnetic field that captures the ferrous particles as the fluid flows through. Going by the trade name Magnom, the product is not designed as a replacement for conventional filters, but rather as a way to effectively remove the most damaging of contaminants – ferrous particles.
Magnom filters are an excellent way to control contamination in any mechanical system that produces ferrous particles. Of special note is the fact that because Magnom filters do not cause a reduction in flow, they can be placed in areas that are not able to utilize conventional filters, such as the suction side of pumps.
Magnom filters have no moving parts, are fully scalable and can be cleaned and reused an infinite number of times.
