We have pump/gearbox/steam turbine arrangement that has been aligned 'cold'. When aligning allowance is made for heat expansion, however I would like to check the alignment when the pump is 'hot'. The pump is pumping crude oil at approx 200 degrees cent and rotates at 940rpm and is mounted directly onto a steel baseplate on a concrete plinth. What methods are available to allow me to check alignment with the plant running at normal operating temperatures?
