New PVM 100 Portable Vibration Meter by Wilcoxon

The easy-to-use PVM 100 fits perfectly into Wilcoxon’s Total Lower Cost (TLC) approach by offering an economical and effortless way to take vibration readings.

Simply attach the accelerometer, press one button to select acceleration, velocity, or displacement, and hold it down to read the output on the large digital display. Plant managers who need to further pinpoint a noise source can plug headphones into the top-mounted jack.

"The PVM 100 provides a quick and easy check of vibration levels when a full vibration analysis is not yet warranted,” says Steve Wichtendahl, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Our Digital Vibration Meter is most important to customers who have smaller plants, but recognize the value of measuring vibration levels. This product can be a straightforward first step to introducing a Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) program.”

The lightweight PVM 100 comes with a convenient carrying case to keep all accessories close at hand. Included with the Portable Vibration Meter are a 784A accelerometer, a six-foot cable, a PT2 Probe Tip, a B3 Magnetic Mount, and an SF6 mounting stud. The cable connects the 784A accelerometer to the input BNC connector. Attach the probe tip, magnet mount or mounting stud to achieve a range from 10 Hz to 5 kHz.

Wilcoxon's PVM 100, which lists for under $1100, is ideal for small CBM programs. Use the PVM 100 to check vibration levels on fans, motors, pumps, blowers, compressors, chillers, gearboxes, and mixers, as well as many other industrial applications.

To purchase a Portable Vibration Meter, or for information on Wilcoxon's pledge of Total Lower Cost (TLC) of Ownership, visit http://www.Wilcoxon.com call 1-800-WILCOXON, or send an email to Sensors@Wilcoxon.com.

LORD Balancing Systems

LORD's Balancing Systems are designed to correct unbalance in rotating machinery while in operation. The system is comprised of five parts: the balancer, actuator coil, sensors, controller and software. Unlike traditional “off-line” balancing techniques, which require the rotating asset to be stopped while corrections are made, LORD's Balancers correct for unbalance while the rotating equipment is running.

The balancer is installed permanently onto the rotating shaft; sensors continuously monitor the vibration levels while running. When an increase in vibration is detected above a pre-determined level, the controller initiates an advisory message as to the change in state of the unbalance. It then instructs the balancer to make an automatic balance correction. Balance adjustments can be made during start-up, normal operation and shutdown.

The Balancing Systems provide the ability to continuously monitor the state of balance of the rotating system. Rather than “covering up/masking,” a balance problem, the Balancing System continuously reports the state of the system's unbalance, thus providing diagnostic information used to predict system health and optimize service outages.

LORD Balancers have been applied to fans, pumps, turbines, generators, compressors, grinders, lathes, spindles, drive shafts and aircraft propellers.
