The Reliability Engineer is responsible for driving / leading continuous improvement of equipment reliability by providing / coordinating technical support to Westwego and Reserve facilities. Principal Accountabilities:
• Assure the integrity of the CMMS Input processes Lead / Champion Cause Analysis (CA) to identify and eliminate defects which are responsible for major down-time of equipment / process.
• Provide direction / technical support to Planner(s) - Ensure that precision maintenance practices are understood.
• Focus on the implementation and compliance of new RE work processes - track progress and compare to benchmarks.

Job Description:
Responsible for assessing the condition of large equipment by collecting and analyzing diagnostic data. After data collection, prepare reports for identifying machine health and reliability problems and makes recommendations for improvements. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Gathering and examining basic reliability data from field studies or database utilizing available predictive maintenance technologies, including, but not limited to, vibration analysis, oil analysis, motor-testing, battery testing and/or infrared thermography to determine machine health condition.
• Present details of the analysis to more experienced systems engineers for approval/feedback for gaining in-depth experience and improving judgment for advancing to higher level jobs.
• Maintaining accurate records of machinery conditions and related history.
• Assisting in root cause failures analysis to avoid future failures.
• Responding to call-outwork as required
• Performing other work as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelors Degree in a technical field, or equivalent degree, and 3-7 or more years of job-related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Naval experience using Vibration technology, sonar, submarine or other technology highly desired
• Experience using diagnostic tools (DLI experience highly desired).
• Experience in one or more of the Predictive Maintenance areas: Vibration Analysis, Oil Analysis, Machine Motor and/or Battery Testing is highly desired, but we are willing to cross-train on multiple functions
• Vibration Certification through the Vibration Institute or major vendor certification program, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience, and the willingness to complete the Vibration Specialist Certification

The research organization of FM Global is seeking resourceful problem-solvers with strong technical, communications, and business skills to support corporate activities in reliability of equipment associated with our clients’ property insurance, risk management and loss prevention needs.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will plan, conduct, and direct development and evaluation of approved scientific and engineering projects or programs with minimal supervision that increase technical knowledge and provide solutions to equipment & system reliability problems for property loss prevention and mitigation for use by FM Global research, engineering, underwriting or other corporate business components, as well as FM Global clients. The position will focus on reliability and availability of equipment and systems, as well as engineering risk in order to identify and effect improvements in design, operation, inspection, maintenance, and/or monitoring practices. Equipment includes diverse rotating and static process equipment. Systems include equipment assemblages (like fire protection equipment), instrument and controls, and protection systems.
The position conducts work as part of a research program or project under the supervision of a Program Manager or Team Leader. The candidate will conduct damage mechanism assessments, failure distribution estimations, reliability modeling (such as failure modes & effect analyses, fault tree analyses, Markov analyses) and event tree analyses. Familiarity with SAPHIRE, Reliasoft Weibull or BlockSim programs, MATLAB, MS Excel, Access, or equivalent applications is advantageous.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have an engineering track record with a Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering (or chemical engineering) and reliability engineering/science, or related area with 7-12 years of pertinent experience. The desired areas of experience include reliability and availability evaluations and process equipment/system design, inspection, maintenance, and monitoring practices. Candidates with an MS or greater in the above combined disciplines with 3 -15 years experience will be considered. The position is based in Norwood, Massachusetts.
