JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Director of Engineering, lead, manage and oversee the development and implementation of Reliability Maintenance systems and processes to accomplish a vision to be a “competitive advantage” for the company. Assure cGMPs, SOPs, Division Procedures and Good Engineering Practices are appropriately integrated in all maintenance activities. Additionally, this position manages the Metrology and the Critical Systems departments. Critical Systems provides FDA regulated utility services to manufacturing. The incumbent has the responsibility, opportunity and rewards of participation and contribution as a technical resource and leader.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the development and integration of reliability maintenance strategies and methods throughout the site in order to provide maximum availability of equipment and facilities to manufacturing.

Develop and implement new maintenance management and service technologies to aide in preventive and predictive maintenance methods.

Support, review, assess and counsel engineering project teams regarding all areas of maintenance impact; such as, layout, design for maintainability, component standardization and spare parts/material.

Manage, identify, hire, develop and recognize technical staff; Create and maintain employee and organizational development; as well as HR plans which meet business needs. This includes talent assessment, needs analysis and development. Staff includes supervisors, managers, reliability engineers, maintenance planners, MRO storeroom specialists, calibration and maintenance technicians, engineers and boiler operators.

Apply specialized knowledge in a creative way to a broad range of complex challenges to achieve optimal up-time and reliability.

Manage and report on key metrics used to monitor progress and develop strategic and tactical plans to advance overall performance.

Responsible for policy setting and defining procedures for the staff in accomplishing and documenting projects. Assist in the development of overall engineering department policy.

Approve protocols and support documentation (engineering change requests, system change forms, etc.) in order to secure project release. Develop staff members to assume technical approver role.

Plan, manage, oversee and schedule the plant maintenance shutdowns.



Job Requirements

Must be well versed in engineering disciplines (e.g. fluid flow, thermodynamics, heat transfer, statics and dynamics, engineering materials). Must possess knowledge of related disciplines.

Knowledge of GMPs, FDA guidelines, purchasing practices and cost management.

Must be self-motivated, have good interpersonal skills, capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience.

Ability to manage multiple cross-functional teams simultaneously.

Ability to design and influence outside of immediate scope of responsibility.

Maintain industry contacts and be involved in industry interest groups.

Proven track record of management/leadership effectiveness.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

BS in related engineering discipline with related applied experience.

10-12 years of relevant technical experience. Several years of technical management experience, resource and budget management.

Percent Travel Required 5%
