And our share of the ice cream market continues to grow. This growth has created an opportunity for a Reliability Manager at our Laurel, MD facility.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Reliability Manager is aligned with a specific Business or set of Product Platforms within the plant and is the reliability systems owner for that area. Currently there are 3 within Laurel to support the 13 production lines. A Reliability Manager will be directly responsible for meeting or exceeding all the Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) of their respective Business Unit, as well as supporting the other Business Units within the plant. This position is responsible for leading a team which supports the site to consistently meet or exceed its personnel safety, food quality, environmental, regulatory, financial, and product supply goals. Reliability Managers have direct supervisory responsibility for 1 to 3 Maintenance Coaches (salaried front line supervisors), 15 to 25 maintenance mechanics, including Maintenance Team Coordinators (Planner/Schedulers as assigned).
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ø Ensure right process are created and/or are being followed daily to ensure a “zero breakdown” approach is used to running the asset base.
Ø Ensure that staffing strategies exist wherein the business needs are achieved and KPI’s are always met.
o Reliability, loss, throughput targets
o Maintenance costs
o Labor costs
o Energy costs
Ø Provide hands on technical leadership & training to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve electro-mechanical issues as they arise and help is needed.
Ø Role model a maintenance system approach that drives “root cause” problem solving and a mindset of “all problems are preventable”.
Ø Collaborate with other BUL’s (Business Unit Leaders) on key initiatives as they arise.
Ø Responsible for the personal and professional development of coaches that are assigned.
Ø Lead/Drive key GPS Initiatives (TPM).
Ø Active participation in plant “M” Meetings (Management Team)
Ø Ensure our 3 Givens < Safety- Quality – Grooves> are understood by your direct reports and all team members and are not compromised.
Ø Assist project managers as directed for major projects to ensure proper planning is attained. Provides input and support for all projects and ensures proper project management procedures are followed. Responsible for ensuring preventive maintenance procedures, master schedules and spare parts are in place to support successful project startups.
Ø Ensure that technicians are moving effectively through skill progressions (Partner with Training Manager).
Ø Assist Coaches and Team Coordinators to ensure their assigned mechanics maintain MP2 proficiency with work request input, work order data input, inventory lookup, and work order history review.
Ø Ensure new hires are mentored appropriately and that effective performance reviews are happening.

Requirements
EDUCATION & MINIMUM YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
Ø B. S. degree in Engineering or Industrial Technology and/or relevant technical experience.
Ø 7-10 years recent experience in a progressive technical leadership capacity working in a manufacturing or related industrial environment.
Ø Experience in building and sustaining systems, processes and programs that support reliability initiatives.
Ø Food manufacturing is a strong plus.
Ø Experience in a high performance, self managed environment, with a working knowledge and understanding of production management, cost, quality, safety and personnel.
Ø Experience with operating within a formalized Continuous Improvement process a plus (TPM, Lean Manufacturing)
