JOB DESCRIPTION
Civil Ammunition, a division of ATK is a leader in the design, manufacture, and distribution of ammunition and shooting accessories. This position is located at our Federal Premium Ammunition plant located in Anoka, MN. This position will report to the Mgr, Operations Support. Principle accountabilities include:
• Develops improvement to tooling and processes for the manufacture of existing products
• Identifies and implements cost reduction opportunities such as improved material utilization, increased machine/process efficiency, and reduced cost of poor quality
• Reviews tools and perishable machine parts drawings for the necessity of revision on tolerances, surface finishes, dimensions, and material selection and then initiates Engineering Change Orders where justified
• Utilizes project management skills including responsibility for: capital expenditure justification, equipment/process design and development, project spending, project execution timing, and resource management
• Investigates and troubleshoots production difficulties and takes corrective measures
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Required:
• Bachelors degree in Engineering
• Minimum of 1-3 years experience in a manufacturing environment
• Familiarity with high volume metallic parts manufacturing operations and equipment
• Thorough understanding and broad application of technical standards, principles, theories, and techniques
• Proven hands on experience with Six Sigma tools and techniques and lean manufacturing concepts
Preferred:
• Machine Design experience
• Experience designing machine parts in Solidworks

Responsibilities:
Responsible for the review of component selection, application, and stress levels; preparation of standard component drawings; preparation of non-standard part approval requests; preparation of reliability analyses, maintainability analyses, failure mode effects analyses (FMEA), failure mode effects criticality analyses (FMECA), integrated logistics support (ILS) analyses, and related documents; reviewing designs in regard to reliability, maintainability, safety, and human factors; and for related engineering assignments. Supports operations in component management. Uses CAD tools, mathematical modeling, and complex analysis techniques on designs to determine and simulate the life of the product in the field. Also uses thermal and mechanical stress analysis techniques and applies them to designs, as applicable. Interfaces with other disciplines as necessary to insure the reliability of the product. Participates in a team environment using concurrent engineering practices. Also participates in proposal activity as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a BSME or BSEE
1 + years experience in the field of Reliability Engineering
Prefer someone that is DER registered
