The Sunday Times FT team was in for a pleasant surprise when they visited the Unilever Factory at Agrapatana. What struck most at the factory was its orderliness, quite remarkable for a tea manufacturing plant. The staff was in clean uniforms, the roadways were clearly demarcated and dirt-free, the equipment was sparkling and the entire environment was hygienic.

How does a tea factory look like a five star hotel (no pun on the other Tea Factory Hotel)?

January 27, 2007   Flir Systems shareholders sue, allege backdating

According to the Seattle Times

Shareholders of Flir Systems have filed a lawsuit against the Portland maker of infrared and heat-detection systems for allegedly backdating stock options.

The practice of backdating involves setting the date of an option at the stock’s lowest point in a given period, artificially inflating the value of the award. In October, The Oregonian newspaper said Flir and several other large Oregon companies reported unusually favorable option grants and either declined to explain or declined to document how they chose their grant dates. Management at all the companies denied wrongdoing.

Top Air Force leaders from the maintenance career fields met in San Antonio in December for the semiannual Air Force Maintenance and Munitions Advisory Group meeting.

Brig. Gen. Kathleen D. Close, the Air Force director of maintenance, led the meeting that included representatives from all major commands and Pentagon headquarters as well as various maintenance boards.

The leaders gathered to embark on the first-ever enterprise-wide strategic plan for the career fields.
