Please join us for CMMS-2006, the Computerized Maintenance Management Summit from December 5 through December 8, 2006 in Daytona Beach Florida.

With over 60% of all CMMS implementation falling far short of expectations, we have created a conference to address the strategies, tactics and technology for more productive maintenance work process automation through Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

CMMS-2006, the Computerized Maintenance Management Summit is the only event dedicated to Computerized Maintenance Management, Maintenance Inventory, Maintenance Planning & Scheduling and Maintenance Work Management.

You will take away new solutions for maintenance information management that you can put to immediate use as peers and industry experts share knowledge and experience in a non-commercial environment.

September 29, 2006   MEX CMMS Delivering Downtime Reductions

“Each and every year billions of dollars are lost from companies because of downtime” said Stephen Ninnes at the recent MEX CMMS Software Seminar. “And the sad truth is that the majority of this can be avoided”.

Downtime costs in production and time is evident when something fails and the plant stops, but the true cost is wide and varying, and usually expensive. From the failure to deliver and staff discontent through to overtime increases and environmental issues.

While this can never be stopped in total, it can be significantly reduced through the effort of applying a simple Preventative maintenance program, good management of it and the ability to analyse where the faults lie. MEX is a CMMS solution that can assist immensely in helping to achieve these aims. “We have been able to achieve the halving of downtime in a plant over a 12 month period just by introducing MEX and applying processes to the maintenance work being done,” said Stephen Ninnes; owner and founder of Maintenance Experts Pty Ltd.

Now, with over 4,000 system users across the globe, from Wales to China to Oregon, MEX is providing solutions to virtually every industry sector including manufacturing plants, building facilities, local governments, fleet managers and maintenance contractors.

MEX will deliver benefits to any size company, from stand-alone installations to multi-site regionalised organisations. Whether a maintenance operation services five or 50,000 pieces of equipment, the MEX system gives users the power to take control, utilising either MEX Access or MEX Enterprise SQL Server.

RCM should be for everyone, not just for the corporate titans with megabucks to spend and an abundance of personnel available to them…but also for the “every man” who is in charge of preventive maintenance and reliability at a small or mid-sized facility.

Whether you work at a large plant for a large corporation, or a mid-size plant or a small plant, RCM is a universally accepted methodology for everyone who wants to establish a premier preventive maintenance program.

In this 1 hour training course, you will be introduced to the world of RCM, its origin, its present day applicability, and its importance in the future of global corporate competition.

• You will learn how and why RCM was developed for the commercial aviation industry.

• You will learn what the 3 phases of an RCM are.

• You will learn the seven SAE questions of RCM and why they were established.

This course includes a narrated lecture with slides (in Flash and Windows Media Player format), an e-Book, a quiz with scoring, practical exercises and the ability to communicate and interact directly with the instructor and other course participants.

September 29, 2006   Time Management For Maintenance Professionals by Joel Levitt

Audio CD and e-Book

Maintenance can be a pressure cooker. Emergencies, short staffing, vendor problems, high customer expectations all contribute to be stressors on the job. While removing the stressors is impossible, changing your attitude might be possible.

A person who feels mastery over his/her environment transforms the `bad’ stress into good excitement. Workings on time management as a skill helps people feel mastery. The goal is not to feel in control because that is an illusion. The goal of time management is feeling that you can master anything that comes at you.

This special audio CD and e-Book by maintenance expert Joel Levitt includes a one hour presentation, a comprehensive printable e-Book (PDF) and several practical exercises to begin your journey toward mastering time in your life.

Course Content:

1) The Nature of Time- how do you spend it?

2) 7 Daily Habits of Success

3) Scheduling Tips

4) Taming time killers

5) Resources

Note: This program runs on any standard Audio CD Player including car players.

Learn to Manage Maintenance Effectively and Achieve Reliability at IMC-2006

September 22, 2006   The 3 Phases of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Short Course on CD

The 3 Phases of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) by Neil B. Bloom, Author of Reliability Centered Maintenance - Implementation Made Simple

RCM consists of 3 phases.

Phase 1: The RCM decision logic to ascertain what equipment in the plant or facility requires a preventive maintenance effort to prevent failure.

Phase 2: The second phase is the PM task phase.

Phase 3: The third phase is the execution or the implementation phase.

Neil Bloom leads a one hour course to teach the 3 phases of any successful Reliability Centered Maintenance project. The first phase is the heart and soul of RCM. It consists of the RCM decision logic to ascertain what equipment in the plant or facility requires a preventive maintenance effort to prevent failure. It is the phase of the process that determines whether a component is critical, potentially critical, economic, commitment, or run-to-failure.

The second phase is the PM task phase. There is a whole world of PM activities ranging from a lubrication management program to sophisticated laser alignments, to cutting edge vibration analyses. However, these cumulative activities are only an ingredient of the entire RCM program. In itself, Phase 2 is no more than a PM selection process. Many people think of this as their entire RCM program. Rather, it should more appropriately be referred to as the PM optimization process….. or the PM template process…... or the process where time directed overhauls are replaced with condition directed tasks…... or where PdM is introduced. In any case, Phase 2 alone DOES NOT represent an RCM program. I have even read articles, listened to lectures, and heard many times over that ….. “We are implementing an RCM program and it consists entirely of incorporating PdM tasks.”

The third phase is the execution or the implementation phase. As astounding as it may seem, some people even consider this phase to comprise their entire RCM program.

This course includes a narrated lecture with slides (in Flash and Windows Media Player format), an e-Book, a quiz with scoring, practical exercises and the ability to communicate and interact directly with the instructor and other course participants.
