May 26, 2006 Wilcoxon’s Loop Powered Sensors
Wilcoxon’s Loop Powered Sensors (LPS) provide a 4-20 mA output signal proportional to the overall vibration level. Process control systems such as a PLC or DCS commonly accept this type of output. By connecting into process control systems, you are able to monitor machinery condition without the investment and learning curve commonly associated with traditional vibration monitoring systems, including data collection and custom software.
Until recently, the most common method to obtain a 4-20mA signal for vibration was to connect a separate transmitter signal conditioner to a standard accelerometer. LPS™ contain an accelerometer and miniaturized transmitter all within the sensor that can be connected directly to your PLC or DCS for continuous monitoring and data trending. Wilcoxon lives up to its goal of Total Lower Cost of Ownership (TLC) by making online vibration monitoring available at a fraction of the cost.
Wilcoxon’s LPS™ transducers are available in a wide range of options, including dual output of dynamic vibration data, integral cable connectors and explosion proof casings, as well as a selectable full scale range in terms of acceleration or velocity. This family of sensors has grown to include side exit units and an included temperature sensor, and offers the widest range of options available for 4-20 mA vibration sensors.

May 26, 2006 Condition Based Maintenance Made Easy
Condition Based Maintenance made easy with the new
X-Viber and the X-Trend software system.
This instrument is designed for Condition Monitoring and Predictive Maintenance work without the need for “expert” interpretation. This rugged instrument is suitable for the harshest environments and the general idea behind the whole system is simplicity for you the user.
The X-Viber can measure Overall Vibration Levels, Enveloping, and Bearing Condition with selected frequency ranges and measurement units. It can also record the five highest vibration amplitudes and the related frequency (RPM), plus it has a no-contact sensor for measuring speed and temperature.
The expert X-Trend software system allows you to create a route in your PC. You choose the parameter you want to measure, Vibration/Temperature etc. and set alarm levels then download the route into the instrument. After you have recorded the values you simply upload it back to the computer, and the X-Trend expert software automatically trends the measurements for you to view.
Why not download a copy of the software now from our site?
The cost of the X-Viber including the X-Trend software is $4,482.00.

May 19, 2006 vbOnline
The vbOnline system provides 24/7 round the clock surveillance of critical asserts. A flexible, modular system constantly and automatically evaluates machine operating condition, instantly notifying you when potential problems arise, avoiding costly downtime.
The vbOnline system allows cost effective data collection, more timely, and with improved accuracy compared with walk around portable routines. Safely monitor machines in dangerous and inaccessible environments.
Simplicity is our goal. Each vbOnline connects directly into the LAN/WAN plant network. Single user PC or network capable, our system is as small as required or easily expandable. As surveillance needs increase, simply plug in additional modules.
The vbOnline built on a solid foundation of data acquisition modules measuring between 4 and 32 channels provide a flexible tailor-made solution to suit every requirement. Activate additional channels electronically as needs expand.
The powerful Ascent vibration analysis software is the cornerstone of both our online and portable hand-held systems. Configured for a single user or as a network accessible application, Ascent Level 3 provides immediate notification of alarms and evaluation of problems. View the plant status at a glance – Ascent Level 3 provides visual notification of the current alarm levels.
Automatically set up measurement parameters and alarm values using “The Proven Method” or ISO standards, fine-tune alarm limits with statistical analysis based on each machine’s historical data. Ascent Level 3 also notifies plant personnel by text message and/or e-mail when your machine develops a problem.

May 19, 2006 Detecting pin-hole shorts with the ALL-TEST PRO Instruments.
A pin-hole short is a breakdown of insulation occurring most of the time in the end-turns of motor windings. These faults have become more and more common with the increasing use of PWM Drives (Pulse Width Modulated).
The ALL-TEST IV PRO 2000™ and the ALL-TEST PRO 31™ will both detect these faults. However, as the ALL-TEST PRO 31 instrument can be manually set to perform tests with a range of frequencies (25, 30, 50, 60, 100, 200 and 400 HZ), this instrument has proven to be the most sensitive of the two when it comes to detecting especially pin-hole break-downs. By starting at 20 HZ (default setting) and by gradually lowering the test HZ if a small problem shows up at this HZ, the problems shows up on an increasingly larger scale.
The ALL-TEST PRO 31 detects internal winding shorts and performs a live rotor test, which is very accurate when using 50 or 60 HZ. In addition, it checks insulation to ground with choice of 500 or 1000 Volt and readings fro 0 – 500 MOhm. An incorporated EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) test gives the operator information regarding any electric interference which could interfere with the test.
The ALL-TEST PRO 31 is a powerful instrument which gives instant information on the condition of a motor winding or the rotor. It is lightweight, handheld and easy to use.
